The Townsville HHS has an annual operating budget of $928 million and is the region’s largest civilian employer with a workforce of 6248 clinical and non-clinical staff.
The Townsville HHS comprises 20 facilities including community health, aged-care facilities and rural hospitals covering an area from Cardwell in the north, Richmond in the west and Ayr and Home Hill in the south.
With a geographic footprint of 148,000 square kilometres the Townsville HHS is home to a resident population of 238,614 people.
As North Queensland’s only tertiary hospital, The Townsville Hospital also supports a catchment population of more than 695,000 people from right across North Queensland.
Every day the HHS sees 336 people in emergency departments, sees 1913 people through specialist outpatient clinics and performs 40 operations.
